Lieutenant General (General Staff) Mahmoud Ahmed Salem Al-Subaihi has held numerous senior military and defense leadership positions throughout his distinguished career, including Minister of Defense, Commander of the Fourth Military Region, and Member of the Presidential Leadership Council.

• Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (January 2026 – Present).

• Advisor to the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council for Defense and Security Affairs (2024–2026).

• Minister of Defense of the Republic of Yemen (2014–2018).

• Commander of the Fourth Military Region (2013–2014).

• Commander of Al-Anad Operational Axis and Commander of the 201st Mechanized Infantry Brigade (2011–2013).

Strategic Achievements

• Led military campaigns against Al-Qaeda elements in the governorates of Abyan, Lahj, and Shabwah (2012–2014).

• Directed military operations to repel the Houthi offensive against Aden and Al-Anad Air Base in March 2015.

• Chaired the Supreme Security Committee during exceptional circumstances and contributed to maintaining the cohesion and operational effectiveness of the armed forces.
